FAQ/Support

What is a Talking Points audio tour?

It is a convenient way to personalize your vacation experience! You download the tour to your portable MP3 player, and then follow the map through the tour. In the Pinellas Beaches Tour, we’ve included 14 noteworthy beach destinations, the main attractions at those locations, a brief history and a color map to follow as you travel. It’s a do-it-yourself way to travel –you get all the flavor of the beaches and a great planning tool for day trips.

How do they work?

If you have purchased a CD, just pop it in your car player, it will begin. If you are using an MP3 player, listen to the Welcome track (1). The Pinellas Beaches Tour assumes a south to north progression. Just look for the fish mile markers. They begin at 0 at the southern tip of Long Key (St. Pete Beach). The Welcome track gives directions to your first stop. After that, you can follow the tour in order of the mile markers or not. It’s your choice! Each destination has its own track and a photo (if your MP3 player has a screen) showing a picture from that location. If you’d like to stop for a closer look at any of the sights along the route, all you have to do is press “Pause”

Where can I purchase a tour?

Talking Points Tours are sold as downloadable files at our website, http://talkingpointstours.com. Just follow the step-by-step instructions on how to download the MP3 file for your tour.  Tours are also sold on audio CDs at retail outlets and hotels.

How long is the Beaches tour?

If you follow the tour from end-to-end, it is 54 minutes.

What is included when you purchase a tour online?

When you’ve made your purchase, you’ll be able to download a zip file that will have all the audio files and printable map in PDF format for the tour. Once the file is unzipped you can copy the tracks to your iPod or MP3 player.

How do I copy tours on to my iPod or MP3 player?

The files we provide are standard MP3 files. Since there are numerous MP3 players, (including some cell phones and even GPS devices) you need to follow the instructions provided by your MP3 player.  After you purchased the tour, you will receive an email with a link to get your tour. After you unzip your file, you transfer the files to your MP3 player. In order to see the map included with each tour you will need a PDF viewer which you can download from here:

http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/readstep2.html

When downloading our tours, they come in a zipped format to make downloading faster. If you are using Windows Vista or Mac OSX , just click on the zip file and your computer will extract the files automatically. For older operating systems, you may need to download an extractor program. For Windows, use WinZip or 7-zip (free). For Mac users, use  STUFFIT

How long will I have to download my file?

Once you receive a confirmation email, you will have 48 hours to download the files.

Do I have to do all of the segments in numerical order?

You can go to any point on the map and listen to the segment with the corresponding fish mile marker. Each segment directs you to the next one, but you can ignore the directions and just listen to the commentary. The beauty of the tour is that you can start it anywhere.

I don’t have an MP3 player, but I do have a compact disk player. Can I use the tour?

Yes, you may purchase audio CD's at local stores and gift shops near the tour locations. These CD's are designed for use in auto or portable CD players.  Currently, mail order CDs are not available.

Are the tours protected with DRM?

No, we don’t use DRM because it limits the types of MP3 players you can use. All Talking Points Tours are licensed for the use of the purchaser only. Please refer to our Conditions and Terms of Use.
